Sophomore Eagles
To The Sky!✯
History:
The Sophomore Eagles is a women’s honors and traditions society, which was originally formed
as a younger counterpart to the All Maine Women, with the purpose of helping incoming first-year women acclimate to life at the University of Maine. The women selected to be Sophomore Eagles represent the top one percent of their class in scholarship, leadership, character, friendship and dignity. The Sophomore Eagles’ symbol is a blue star, with each point representing one of the five traits. The first 11 women were selected to be eagles in 1926. Since then, our mission has expanded to help promote a friendly relationship between the freshman and sophomore women and to teach the new women in the customs and traditions of the university. Today, as a group the Eagles participate in a number of charitable and campus events, often in partnership with the All Maine Women, Senior Skulls, or Sophomore Owls honor societies.

Maine Stein Song
Oh, fill the steins to dear old Maine
Shout till the rafters ring
Stand and drink a toast once again
Let every loyal Maine man sing
Then drink to all the happy hours
Drink to the careless days
Drink to Maine, our alma mater
The college of our hearts always
To the trees, to the sky, to the Spring and its glorious happiness
To the youth, to the fire, to the light that is moving and calling us
To the gods, to the fate, to the rulers of men and their destinies
To the lips, to the eyes, to the girls who will love us someday
Oh, fill the steins to dear old Maine
Shout till the rafters ring
Stand and drink a toast once again
Let every loyal Maine man sing
Then drink to all the happy hours
Drink to the careless days
Drink to Maine, our alma mater
The college of our hearts always
To the trees, to the sky, to the Spring and its glorious happiness
To the youth, to the fire, to the light that is moving and calling us
To the gods, to the fate, to the rulers of men and their destinies
To the lips, to the eyes, to the girls who will love us someday
Oh, fill the steins to dear old Maine
Shout till the rafters ring
Stand and drink a toast once again
Let every loyal Maine man sing
Then drink to all the happy hours
Drink to the careless days
Drink to Maine, our alma mater
The college of our hearts always
